Gourmet Enhancements is the destination for specialty foods in Charlotte. Mouthwatering items range from pasta and hummus chips to unique items such as pomegranate syrup, seasoned mayonnaises and gourmet sugars. There's also a wide assortment of sweets, including chocolates, cakes and cookies in decorative tins, gourmet marshmellows and marzipan.
Cooler and freezer case items include pâtés, chorizos, truffle butters, smoked salmon, and anchovies. A healthy supply of ready-to-heat gourmet appetizers and entrees also adorn the chillers and will spice up any gathering. The store is full of items from around the world, but owner Sol Haberman has also brought in Southern favorites from local purveyors, including peanuts, sauces, vinegars and cheesecakes. The self-proclaimed foodie says the idea for the store struck after he moved here from San Francisco and couldn't find some of his favorite ingredients. He realized Charlotte was full of people in the same situation, and now through Gourmet Enhancements he hopes to fill the niche.
